WELCOME TO
THE NEEV PROJECT
EXPERIENCE THE STORY OF EVERY LANDSCAPE
Our Story
At The Neev Project, we see landscapes as living narratives, etched by time, shaped by nature, and intertwined with human history.
Through our stories, we invite you to experience the land not just as a place, but as a living chronicle.
Our Projects

The Ladakh Pilot
The collision zone between the Indian continent and Eurasia runs across ladakh. It was this collision that formed the Himalayas and changed the history of life on Earth forever.
This immersive day experience takes you on an adventure through time, uncovering the powerful forces that shaped its dramatic terrain over millions of years. You will leave with a deeper connection to nature, a fresh perspective on the world’s landscapes, and the wonder of history etched in stone.

![This crystal might look ordinary until you realize it’s made of an ancient ocean. Halite, or rock salt, forms when seas evaporate, leaving behind beds of salt that eventually turn to stone.
And yes, sometimes it can be the same salt that ends up in your kitchen.
So the next time you season your food, just remember... you’re tasting a rock.

![What if we told you that parts of Mumbai sit on fossil beds? Worli, now a bustling coastal neighbourhood, was once a thriving marine ecosystem millions of years ago. Fossils found here tell the story of ancient sea life that lived long before skylines and sea links.
And to truly connect with that past, we visited the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, where these stories are preserved in stone and showcased for all curious minds. NOTE: Unfortunately, the fossil is not yet on display but you can find images online and read all about it!

![Between Leh and Phyang in ladakh, along the highway, you’ll see these black lines across the mountain face. They say a demon once terrorised the valley until a saint struck him down. His blood spilled as they fled across the mountain, leaving a black streak.
Ask a geologist, and they’ll tell you: That black streak is a dike magma that forced its way through the crust and solidified into stone.
One story speaks of saints and demons. The other speaks of tectonic drama.

![The Shyok River is breathtaking. It cuts through some of the most dramatic, high-altitude terrain in Ladakh. But its name holds a warning. Shyok means “river of death” in Ladakhi. Not because of myth, but because of reality.
Unpredictable currents, sudden floods, and steep, unstable banks have made this river both lifeline and threat for centuries. It shifts without warning, carving and destroying in the same breath. To witness it is to understand how beauty and danger can flow through the same channel.

Limestone is formed from shells, coral, and marine life that settled on ancient sea floors, then hardened over millions of years into the rock we walk on today. It’s more than just building material. It’s a fossil archive.
And yes, sometimes, it even fizzes on contact with vinegar.

![What if we told you this quiet Himalayan town was once a beach?
Swipe through a time machine built from rocks, science, and imagination.
From 70 million years ago when dinosaurs still walked the Earth and Leh sat beside a tropical ocean…
To the moment India collided with Eurasia, setting the stage for the Himalayas…
To now, where that collision still continues beneath your feet.
This carousel is a recreation.
A visual leap through deep time, where each layer of Earth tells a story and Leh becomes a witness to it all.
This isn’t just geology. It’s time travel.

This time, we leave the collision zone behind and drive into the Zanskar range “The Tethys Himalaya zone”.
Once the floor of an ancient ocean, now lifted into majestic folds of limestone, shale, and sandstone.
Waterfalls pour out of rock faces, glaciers crown every mountain and marine fossils hide in plain sight. Every layer we pass tells a story of deep time.
A special thanks to @bardo_odyssey and @shilpa.sharma_2 for making this part of the trip more spectacular ♥️
🎥 Watch as we decode Zanskar’s secrets, one fold at a time.

![Welcome to Episode 2 of our Himalayan journey.
